Located in the heart of central Pennsylvania, Herwig's Austrian Bistro is a unique dining experience for anyone looking to sample the tastes of authentic homestyle Austrian cuisine. Since opening its doors for business in January of 2002, Herwig's has gained a reputation for serving only the highest quality food and providing our customers with a truly unique dining experience and Gemütlichkeit.
Size Matters
We are able to provide such a high level of customer satisfaction by keeping things simple. With a maximum seating capacity of 24, our State College location is small by comparison to most restaurants. Rather than being a drawback, our success is largely based on our smaller size. We craft all of our dishes in small quantities - providing a greater level of quality control and attention to detail than is possible in most full-scale restaurants. We try to sell out of all of our menu selections on a daily basis so that each day we may start again from scratch and provide our customers with something different from the day before.

At Herwig's, we believe that a pleasant dining experience is comprised of more than just great food. Our family and staff interact with our customers on a personal level. We strive to provide an unequalled dining experience and are unafraid of going beyond traditional boundaries in order to keep the atmosphere of our restaurant as fresh and exciting.as the cuisine we serve.
