What is the ALCOHOL POLICY at Herwig's?
Herwig's does not have a liquor license but does allow our customers to bring their own BEER or WINE ONLY, provided that all members of the party are over 21 years of age. If a minor is present in the party, at least one other member of the party must be above 25 years of age. Herwig's BYOA policy is in effect AFTER 5PM weekdays and ALL DAY on Saturdays. Please remember to share with the staff!
Does Herwig's accept reservations?
ONLY Reservations for parties 8 people or larger are accepted. Because of our expanded seating space and scale of our menu, we suggest that all of our larger dinner parties place not only a reservation, but also an advance food order to guarantee that any specialty dishes of the day will be available at the time of the reservation.
Should patrons tip at Herwigs?
A tip or gratuity is a generally accepted way of acknowledging a wonderful dining experience and is gratefully accepted by the Herwig's staff. Gratuities may be left upon the table or placed in the "Tip Pig" on our counter.
Does Herwig's accept major credit/debit cards?
NO, we accept cash, local personal or travelers checks only.

What are Herwig's hours of operation?
Herwigs is open Monday through Saturday at 11:45 AM, and our very latest time we will seat customers is at 8 PM (M-Tu-W) and 9 PM (Th-F-Sa.) HOWEVER, if we are extremely busy and run out of our featured dishes for the day, we may be forced to stop seating earlier than our listed times. Thus, food pre-orders are strongly suggested for all parties.
Does Herwig's offer cooking classes?
NO. We have discontinued the classes in favor of our franchise operations.
Does Herwig's cater weddings and parties?
YES! Herwig's is approved by Penn State University for catering its functions. We also cater weddings and parties of any size. For more information, please contact us so that we may discuss what might best fit the needs of your function.
Does Herwig's offer gift certificates?
YES. We offer gift certificates in any dollar amount which are redeemable within 6 months of the purchase date.
